Yay I love being home!
On saturday I went to the last home football game then out to downtown to see the unveiling of the lights and window displays at Neimen Marcus! There was christmas music and Santa and tons of people ready to celebrate the Christmas season! What a lovely atmosphere!
On Sunday I went to practice, then to the village church with my mom and Kelly and Jordan. It was interesting because the pastor was speaking at the church in Flower Mound but there was a video of him speaking. The pastor was extremely good and engaging. Also the majority of the people there were my age which was nice. Then me and my mom did a little shopping at mockingbird station, I didnt find anything though. Then sunday night we went out to dinner with my family and my two cousins!
Monday morning I had to go back up to SMU for a meeting and one class at three.
NOW THOUGH I AM HOME FOR GOOD! Tonight I get to catch up with ashley and sloanie and Im super excited to enjoy thanksgiving break!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING WEEK!
Thanksgiving week challenge for anyone reading this blog....
Tuesday: Remember to give thanks for the free country we live in and all the people who work to keep us safe and free
Wednesday: Give thanks for your friends. Friendship is so important. So send a text to a friend who has always been there for you and just say hey im thankful to have you in my life
Thursday: Give thanks for your family. We all tend to take advantage of how important family is, but after being in college and leaving all my friends Ive realized how amazing family is. I dont think we tell our family we are thankful for everything they do/ have done in the past enough. We take advantage of just thinking they already know we are thankful or that this is their job, but its not. Think of all those kids who do not have parents that provide for them, whose parents passed away, who have abusive parents, who don't have parents that care about them....then think about how blessed you truly are to have your family around.
Friday: Give all your thanks to God and be thankful of God. Take a step back and list out 15 thinks that you are blessed with. Take a step back and see how God has a hand IN EVERY ONE of those things you feel blessed about. Its such an amazing feeling because you actually see where God is working in your life.
Thats my thanksgiving challenge for you and myself. Just remember to give thanks! This is the only holiday not consumed in materialistic things so dont let it pass you by!

Day 09 - Something you're proud of In The Past Few Days
I am proud of the fact that I completed my first Collegiate Cross Country season!
I am proud of the fact that I am doing good on grades as of right now,
and I am proud that I am completely and utterly happy.
Today was a homework day and now i must go to class!
Oh we got a nutritionist to talk to our team yesterday and it was very informative I learned that for every meal (even breakfast) you need something from at least 3 food groups. I learned I need to eat at least a snack every 3 hours, if its been three hours since the last time I ate i should have a snack. She gave us all the good healthy snacks to have and a plate with portion sizes of how much of our diet should be carbs (50%) Proteins (20) and Heathy fats (30%) She also told us things in the cafeteria that are good to eat like baked sweet potatoes (which is what i had for dinner after our talk). It was informative and also exciting to go to the store and buy the stuff on the list. I wasn't too far off from what she told us to be eating as I already eat about those portions. The only thing I wasnt doing was snacking. I need to have a snack between lunch and dinner so my dinners are not so heavy. Also since training is about to be in the afternoon next semester a snack between those two meals is essential! I learned a lot and love talking about nutrition and going to the store and finding foods that will enhance my performance as much as possible!

What a busy week!
Day 7 challenge: someone who has had the biggest impact on you
These are my parents and they have had the biggest impact on me! I love them to death and am thankful to have such amazing parents in my life as role models and supporters of everything I do!
Last night some girls from the team went out to dinner with coach and the recruit, Latane. We went to Texas Land and Cattle then YOGURTLAND after! I love spending time with my team!
Then Monday I woke up and ran and went to breakfast with Latane, then went to my academic athletic advisor meeting, then ART, then class, then finished psych project, then class again, then got ready, then TEAM BANQUET. We all went to Maggianos for some amazing food and good times with the team handing out awards from last track season and this cross country season. We all got dressed up and looked amazing. We have one good looking team!
I still desperatly need to catch up on sleep from the weekend, so goodnight :)

Day 05 - A picture of somewhere you've been to
This is Guatemala where I went on a mission trip after my sophomore year of high school. Such a beautiful country God made, with such poverty and ugliness in the police and political system. The mission trip was such an amazing experience there and Guatemala is such a beautiful country with beautiful green hills, mountains, and volcanoes - no one expects it to be beautiful but it is!
This morning, me Laura and Jennie got up early to drive to Baylor and support our lovely SMU cross country girls who qualified for regionals! They did amazing despite it being a 6k race which most of them (all but 2) have NEVER run before! After the race we had such an amazing team bonding experience and Im so happy we were all there for it. I love my team and how close we all are, makes running for them completely worth it!
Tonight we celebrate being done with the cross country season! yay!

Day 04 - A Habit That You wish you did not Have
I wish I was able to sleep in. For the last couple years of my life it has been a struggle for me to sleep in past 8am! I wish I could so then I wouldn't be so tired if I had to stay up late the night before! Sometimes it can be a good habit though if I have to wake up early which is usually the case for school or cross country!
Yesterday I went to the library for the first time all semester to write my English paper rough draft. It was super quiet in there and there were no distractions so I got a ton of work done!
Today I just can't wait until classes are over with today because I have an AMAZING next 4 days planned and I just CANT wait :)
Tonight I am going to dinner with my mom and Kalie for Kalie's birthday at P.F. Changs. Then after I am going to a play at Meadows. And after that I am going out ;)
Tomorrow the SMU cross country fan bus is heading to baylor to watch the girls who qualified for regionals compete! Then I will get to see my Baylor friends also :)

Day 03 - A picture of you and your friends
This is a picture of me and my friends in High School
This is a picture of me and my friends in college
Last night I went to One28 which is a church group on campus! I love the group and the small group I am in connected to the big group! Its connected to watermark church in Dallas. I learned two things last night, it was someone from the church's last night and she left with words of wisdom: Only two things in life matter - the word of God and the souls of men. So true, because those are the only two things that are eternal, everything else is earthly possessions. That phrase just puts everything back in perspective!
This morning we had practice, it was easy though since regionals is on Saturday. We did warm up, stretches, then 3min, 2min, 90sec, 60sec, 30sec. With one minute rest in between. Then cool down, stretch, and ice bath!
Now time to do psychology project - I cant say anything about it until its over or else it could skew our results :)

What a wonderful Wednesday!
This morning I woke up at 9:00! which is the first day I have slept in past 8am since being in college! you know its guna be a great day when that happens. Then I go to my first class, Microeconomics and get my test back and I got a 95! I thought I did bad on the test, so that was a pleasant surprise! Then I sent my English draft to my teacher and he said it was amazing and that I was such a great writer which means I don't have to make changes to my draft before I turn it in which saves me a lot of time tonight! Also it is beautiful weather here in Dallas which always makes the day 10 times better. So in a nutshell I have a feeling the rest of my day is going to be amazing because this morning was so wonderful!
30 day challenge time:
Day 02 - The Meaning behind your blog name
Well I wanted it to rhyme so breath is all I could think of to rhyme with steph. Also its my words typed into a blog so its my "breath" and what I have to say. It isnt the best blog name but It was all I could think of late one night when I decided to start this blog!

Day one Mission
Day one is a recent picture and 15 interesting facts!
This picture is from Conference USA meet with my lovely team, I am the one in the middle!
15 interesting facts:
1. I have an obsession with the show Friends. I have seen every episode MULTIPLE times and still continue to watch them!
2. I have another obsession with fruit. It consumes most of my diet. I would say strawberries, grapes, cantaloupe, and nectarines are my favorite
3. I love to run - distance. My love for the sport started at the end of high school, but now that I am doing it in college at SMU I love it even more!
4. I dont like chocolate - everyone I tell that to is always shocked so that is probably an interesting fact about me
5. I really like math. Right now i'm majoring in finance but hope one day to also teach math because teaching is a big passion of mine!
6. I like to cook and read about nutrition and new recipes. I recently found out that i really enjoy doing that. Today, for example I went to the book store and found myself reading a cookbook/ nutrition book for a half an hour! Hopefully I can continue my love for that somehow?
7. I went to the same school for 16 years (preschool, elementary, middle, and high school)
8. I broke my collar bone playing soccer recently and now have a plate and 7 screws in my collar bone; it bothers me weekly! Can't wait to get it out in about 4 years!
9. I love the holiday season, it always makes me super happy!
10. I want to live in Chicago when I graduate for a couple years then settle down in a suburb of a big city somewhere in America!
11. I have an older brother that goes to University of Arkansas - he's a really cool person and single so if your reading this and are interested let me know because I want nieces and nephews!
12. My parents are a big part of my life, I love that I am close to them and get to see them often. They support me in everything I do and I love them for that!
13. God is the biggest part of my life and I am trying to go deeper into his word in college so im not just a "Sunday Christian"
14. My favorite class is Microeconomics
15. I want to travel to New York City, Greece, and Russia sometime in my lifetime

The weekend in a nutshell
Friday night my mom came to SMU and we went to dinner at Cisco Grill in Snider Plaza. Then we went to Central Market to shop for breakfast the next morning. Friday night I went out with my roommate and two girls from my team. We were planning on going to the Ying Yang Twins concert, but after hearing not many people were getting in and it wasn’t that fun, we went to a house party then to a bar in Dallas (I don’t drink though no worries mom, I am a runner it would be stupid for me to drink even if I wanted to, which I dont!). Its crazy how SMU students can get into the bars when frats rent them out or when a lot of SMU students are there. I defiantly wasn’t expecting that. It was a really fun night though going out with my team was amazing I love those girls!
Saturday morning we had practice at 8:30am, which was rough getting in late the night before. For practice we had to do a 18 minute tempo run. A tempo run is a fast paced run up hills, it’s a little slower than race pace. Then right after with little break we had to run 4 400s, after practice though the whole team came out to my house for breakfast/brunch. My parents made potatoes and eggs, pancakes, bagels, pumpkin break, and best of all fruit! I love having my team out to my house! Then after me and my mom went shopping at Northpark. I got new boots, jackets, and skirts for the winter season. My mom got a pair of really nice boots also, I cant wait to borrow hers! Then after I went to dinner with my roommate and my mom at Panera! Then we went out later to yogurtville with some girls in my small group.
Sunday morning we had practice again at 7am. This time we had a 65 minute run (about 8 miles) around White Rock Lake. Then Sunday afternoon was Panhellenic Preview, which was basically pre-rush. It was practicing the rush process that will happen in January. We went to 4 houses and talked with girls in all the different sororities. The rest of Sunday I studied for my Micro test on Monday. Monday I had practice but it was only a 35 minute run + 4 strides + abs. Then I took my Micro test, It was hard but hopefully I did good on it. I have a lot of homework and papers due this week, so I will be concentrating on homework this week unfortunately.
Sunday, November 7, 2010
I know i havn't updated in a while, but I will tomorrow after my Microeconomics test! But tonight I must study by booty off!

Now its time to focus on my studies for a bit
Cross country is not done we still have practice for two more weeks but I am done competing, so its time to focus on my studies. I have a test thursday, monday, paper due next thursday, and a project due soon. I still have a lot of fun things planned coming up though, so those will be good breaks from studying, but I do have to concentrate on studying for the next few weeks until Thanksgiving Break!

What an amazing weekend!
Sunday -
I got up at 9:15 (which is sleeping in for me!) and had the most amazing breakfast filled with fruit, bagels, muffins, eggs, cheese, pancakes, and much more! Then some girls on the team went to the movies, I stayed in and watched a movie in my hotel room because I had already seen the movie most of the team went to see. Then we went to lunch and Panera and went to jog the course and stretch afterwards. After that we got in the ice bath, took a nice long shower and got ready and went to dinner at Carrabas again. Coach had a coaches meeting at a different restaurant, so my parents came with us to eat with the team at Carrabas! It was nice having my parents there so I could talk with them, hang in their hotel room, and they brought me fruit! Also their support means a lot to me, I love being able to see them on the course running when i see them I run faster because I want to make them proud! After dinner we went back for our team and individual meetings. Conference is such an important meet because it shows the pride you have in your school. We ran for SMU, not for ourselves in this meet, such a cool experience that I am thrilled I was able to be a part of! At our team meetings we got our conference T-shirts and brochures. We were super tired after the whole day, so we went straight to bed.
Saturday - Race Day!
the team got up at 5:30am for a ten minute shake out run and stretching. Then we ate breakfast (I have oatmeal and a banana before I run always now!) Then we had to pack up our stuff and head to the course. Once we got there it was extremely cold, but it warmed up as the sun came out more! I was extremely nervous for this race because I wanted to represent my team well and make my coach proud. I wanted another PR so I went out and I got it. As I started the race my plan was just to stay with one of my teammates which I did a pretty good job of doing the first couple of miles. At the mile mark I had no idea how I was doing, I didnt want to go out too fast so I slowed down a little in the first mile, well thats what I thought at least but after coach told me I ran 5:55 at the mile mark! Super fast, but I was able to maintain for the rest of the race which is what I have not been good at in past races! Then when I went around the second mile mark I heard the time 12:00!!!!! to put that in perspective the fastest two mile time I have ever run is 12:51 and that was on a track and that was when I didnt have 1.1 miles left to go! At this point I knew I would be getting a PR if i just kept moving! I had no idea though how close I was to breaking 19:00. I wish i did know though because I feel like i could have sped up maybe a bit more. But im still extremely happy with my time - cant ask for anything better than a PR! I finished in 19:04!!!!! My PR before that was 19:43, and my PR before SMU was 21:04. Crazzy how much this awesome training is making me so much better! I cant believe still how amaing this opportunity to run cross country has been, I wouldn't change it for anything! I love my coach, I love my team, I love the sport, and I love the school! I couldn't be happier! I thank God everyday for opening the doors allowing me and showing me SMU was the right decision for me. I see God's hand in every decision at the end of my senior year now! All my prayers about college were answered according to his plan and in his timing and It amazes me to see his power and love for me!
After the race we cooled down, stretched, took pictures, ate lunch, and had awards.

Then we had to pack up our stuff and head to the course.
God has blessed me with such an awesome team! I love them!!!
After we left for the 4 hour road trip back to Dallas! When we got back to SMU we got in the Ice bath, ahh made the body feel very good! After that I went back to my dorm, unpacked, and caught up on homework and desperate housewives. Then I was able to go to dinner with the girls from my dorm, I missed them while I was gone this weekend! I love my group of friends and my team! I am extremely blessed with both of them! Now I am just doing some homework and hopefully going to get a good night sleep tonight. What an amazing weekend, thats all I can say! :)
